SEO vs PPC

What is Better SEO or PPC?

Still not sure whether your business can benefit more from SEO or PPC? Let me explain them both down, giving you right insights into where they fit in your overall digital marketing plan.

In the video below I am explaining the different approaches to understand what are SEO and PPC exactly.

Understanding what is SEO and PPC:

Basically, SEO is a long-term digital marketing process through which a website is improved to rank higher in searches for targeted keywords, to generate relevant web traffic towards your website and drive conversions.

PPC refers to the paid advertising that you see right at the top and along the sides of searches on top search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo! The advertisers pay a fee every time when their ads get clicked. Basically, it is a short-term approach to buy visits to your website quickly.

One question that almost every business often asked is “What is better SEO or PPC?”.  Well, let me tell you that this is not a question that has a general or specific answer, because it completely depends on your business’s current situation, primary objectives, digital marketing budget and off course, the marketplace.

What is Better SEO or PPC? – Identifying the Objective:

Both SEO and PPC has their own benefits to attain for businesses, but before understanding and for that matter, choosing the right technique depends on your primary objectives to drive conversions, whether it is long-term or short-term.

Let’s say for example you want to drive conversions at a laser speed within 7 days or 15 days then, you should go for PPC. But if your objective is to rank on particular set of keywords, to have your website rank higher on top search engine and you believe in a long-term digital marketing perspective for driving conversions then, you should go for SEO.

To simplify this process further, take a look at the table below mentioned:

As you can see in the table above that the internet traffic can be divided based on its speed-Fast, Slow, Re-Targeted and Owned traffic speed sources, so if you want to drive conversions at the fastest speed possible then, you must go for Google Ads or Google Search ads or Google Display Ads.

But any sort of paid advertizing with Google will cost you a lot of money, still if you believe that this money investment can help you attain the desired outcomes then, you can go ahead and choose this method.

And if you want to drive conversions in long-term and want to create a pipeline to draw conversions then, go for SEO. One of the key metrics for your decision-making is let’s say if you want to rank on a particular set of keywords, then you must go ahead with SEO. SEO helps you to attain higher rankings for your specific set of keywords and website on top search engines, generate organic and relevant web traffic towards your website and eventually drive conversions.

In short, investment in SEO is long-term and investment in PPC is short-term.

Common problem that many SEO Experts face:

The problem that many SEO experts face is that the clients or company, for which they are working for, starts creating a lot of pressure on them to generate leads quickly. In this situation SEO experts must speak with the company head, the decision-makers or the clients and understand and educate them that if you want to drive conversions in a shorter period of time then, they must go for PPC but they will have to invest very high compared to SEO.

On the contrary, if the client wants to drive conversions in long-term basis with little less investment than PPC then, SEO experts must suggest them to stick with SEO and give you the required time to rank that particular website.

This is the approach you must apply to make your clients understand your perspective. The idea is simple educate the client first, explain them the technicalities involved, ask yourself and your client what are your long-term objectives, then choose the best method-SEO or PPC.

I hope you liked this most and hopefully will help you to decide whether you should be using SEO or PPC for you campaign.
